Republic PR
Republic is an independent freelance public relations and digital PR consultancy that helps companies to promote their products and services to other businesses or consumers via the media. Targeted coverage in the media and on the internet can benefit a business hugely by raising its profile and promoting it to much wider audience.
I help people and businesses communicate with the media, gain publicity or promote them on the internet (also known as digital PR). The simple fact is that all businesses that are successful, over the long term, promote themselves. Be it in order to promote new areas of their business, thus increasing turnover, promote their current success and build a successful reputation by helping them make people aware of the their products, services and successes.
In these lean times companies have a dilemma, they need to get the word out about what they can offer, but with revenues falling, they don’t want the cost of a full PR agency. This dilemma is precisely the reason I set up Republic in 2007. As a freelance public relations consultant I offer big agency expertise, but at a fraction of what an agency would cost. I keep costs down so I can keep your costs down.
Public relations is basically dealing with the media to raise awareness of products and services. Online communications means ensuring you have a solid web presence to support your business. Both aspects are integral to a modern communications strategy, each supports the other, though there is significant overlap, and neither should be done without the other.
As a freelance public relations consultant I pass on my lower overheads to my clients by offering lower fees. With a background of over ten years in major agencies, in London and Dublin, clients get the benefit of big agency experience, on a personal basis, for a fraction of the cost.
Republic is one of the few PR consultancies to effectively combine traditional media coverage TV/radio/press with new forms of on-line media. They use social media and blogging to build an on line profile that reinforces the coverage in the traditional media. These days it is vital that both these aspects of communications are used. To be the most effective the they need to interwoven as part of the communications strategy and neither should be undertaken in isolation.
Services
- Public Relations : publicity, launches, profile raising. Coverage in the media: TV, radio, newspapers. With rise of the internet the there is now an overlap between traditional news sources and new media. Coverage in traditional news sources also helps support SEO because it adds authority in the eyes of Google, thus helping boost Google PageRank.
- Digital PR / On Line Communications: this is now as important as traditional media but the key is integrating the two because they are both an important part of the modern communications process. This includes blogging i.e. target blog posts designed to increase traffic to your website by tapping into a current issue or event that people are searching for. Specific SEO press releases with backlinks that are written specifically for on line news sources; these a re written differently to type of press releases that are sent to the media because they are designed to serve a different function.
- Crisis Management: in a crisis handling the media is often one of the most important aspects and can be very valuable in supporting your case or making people aware of your position.
- Public Affairs: lobbying, stakeholder management, raising support with politicians, influential decision makers and pressure groups.
- Exhibition strategy: how to make the most from attendence at trade shows (formerly I handled the press office at MIPIM the large property show held in Cannes annually)
- Media Training: undertaken in conjuntion with members of the media, this is vital to ensure the your messages are presented with the maximum impact.
Republic uses other freelancers and consultants with different specialisms for specific projects. This ensures the costs to the clients are kept as low as possible whilst providing the same depth and breadth of skills and experience that clients would require from large agency.
